How to Create a New Version of an Existing Job Type

Below will provide instructions on how to create a new version of an existing job type. E.g. how to copy an existing job type and to configure this with slightly different comments, diary actions, costings or review questions.

Note – This is only worthwhile to create a new version of a job type if this new version is expected to be used more than 10 times a year.

  1. Navigate to Administration> Setup > Job Types.

This screen will display all active job types highlighted on the left.

The right of the screen will display details relating to the job type selected on the left.

The tabs at the top relate to each configurable topic for that job type.

2. Find and select an existing job type on the left, similar to the new version you would like to create. (Ideally the job type that will run for the same cost centre, that shares similar diary action and costing pages, this will save time configuring the amount of changes)

3. Select ‘Copy’

4. Then select ‘yes’ to setup the new version with the same actions, charges, costs and review lines.

5. Update the following fields before then saving the new version

Code Value – Enter a new code value, this needs to be the cost centre its for then any number not already used. Try to follow the sequence of the other listed job types. E.g. below LOM10 – 60 is used, we will then create this for LOM70 in this example.

Description – Rename this new job type to be named how you require

You may also opt to update the default options for the job type below e.g. Service, Destination type, Method, etc.

The new variation of the job type is then created, the next step would be to configure the differences this job type will require to the version you have copied. I have listed how changes can be made to each tab.
