Job Type Creator

What is the Job Type Creator?

The Job Type Creator is the most frequently used method for adding relevant diary actions, costs (cost options), invoices, and review questions to a job. Once a Job has been created you can use the Job Type Creator to quickly populate selected tabs of the Jobs Management module with information. The following tabs can be automatically updated using the Job Type Creator:

  • Diary – Actions and dates for the Job
  • Costing – Pre and Post-Job Costs that can estimate the cost and sell price of the Job. A standard set of costs based on the type and size of shipment can be added to a job. Extra costs may be added with Miscellaneous Job Types.
  • Invoicing – Invoices and associated charges for the Job
  • Review – Performance Review questions based on the type of the Job.

The Job Type creator gives you a secondary layer of detail by adding specifics depending on the type of job you are working on.

Example

On the Details page, you selected an “Export Job Controlled by Agent” or EXA. The Job Type creator allows you to drill down to an EXA40 “Export Job Controlled by Agent using Air Shipment.”

This second layer will provide you with a more detailed set of tasks and dates on the Diary, a more accurate costing sheet, quote, and invoice through the costing and invoicing tabs, and a more relevant set of review questions.

How to Access the Job Type Creator

The Job Type Creator is a pop-up window that can be accessed in 3 different ways:

  1. Automatically. In some cases, when you move a Job to a different status, the Job Type Creator will open automatically. On most systems, the Job Type Creator automatically generates when the Job is set to status P. This allows you to build Cost Options create a quote for the client.
  2. By clicking on the Job Type Creator Icon [] in the Jobs Management screen’s toolbar.
  3. From the Costing tab in the Jobs Screen. Click the Add Button in the Moveware Smart Panel.

You can watch the video below to see the process of creating a new cost option using the Job Type Creator in action:

How to Use the Job Type Creator

  1. Select a Job Type(s) from the list. Note that the list of available Job Types includes those based on the type of job (service) and any Miscellaneous Job Types, such as “Access Fee” and “Agent Redelivery.”

  2. Select the area of the job you want to update by ticking the
appropriate box in the “Populate” section on the right. For example, the (Job) Diary or Costing screen. You can tick more than one box.

    a. Moveware will automatically tick the areas of the job that have not yet been populated. You can remove these if desired by simply un-ticking the box.

    b. You can add to existing Job Types by checking the “Add to Selected Option” box. This will add addition information to the Cost Option (Job Type) already on the Job.

  3. Combine as a Single Option. This box will be ticked by default. This function allows you to select multiple Job Types and combine them under a single Costing Header and Invoice. This is commonly used to combine a standard Job Type with a Miscellaneous Job Type. You can un-tick this box to create each selected Job Type as an individual option.

  4. Select the number of days of Packing or Unpacking. An additional Pack or Unpack diary action will be created for each day of Packing/Unpacking.

  5. Click OK and the Job Type Creator will run. All selected information will be added, and the Jobs Management tabs will refresh to display the new information.

Note: Setting up the relevant Job Types for your company is a function of System Administration. It is a complex and important part of Moveware. Please contact your Moveware System Administrator if you need any changes made to this area of the system.
