Add a Recurring Journal

A recurring journal refers to a journal with its own internal schedule. A recurring journal can be created by following the standard steps to create a regular journal, and instead saving it as recurring using the Recurring Journal Template. Once a template has been created, it can be used indefinitely to create future recurring journals.

How to Create a Recurring Journal Template

  1. Navigate to General Ledger > Journals in the main menu.
  2. Follow steps 1 to 8 of Add a New Journal.
  3. Instead of the usual final step of posting the new Journal, click the Save Recurring button. The following popup window is displayed:

  • 4. In the Recurring Journal Template enter the Template Name and Blank Value. Select the Frequency, reminder and starting dates. Moveware will automatically display a reminder when the Recurring Journal is due.
  • 5. The Recurring Journal Template may now be viewed in the Recurring tab. The tab displays a list of Recurring Journal Templates that may be filtered according to the Description, Type, Source, Frequency, Debits and Credits. A list of Journal Entries for the selected Template is displayed at the bottom of the Recurring tab. These Entries may be modified using the Add and Delete buttons below the list.
  • 6. Templates can be selected and edited by clicking the Modify Journal tool .

New General Journal records may be created from the New tab by clicking the Use Recurring button and selecting a Recurring Journal Template. See Post a Recurring Journal for posting instructions.
